El original de este retrato es de
Jacopo da Ponte, más conocido por Jacopo Bassano por haber nacido en esta
ciudad, al pie de los Alpes Venetos,
hacia 1517, donde también murió hacia 1591. Se supone representa a Sebastián
Veniero, Capitán de las Galeras en Lepanto. Es un regalo que hizo Felipe IV al
Marqués de Leganes. Actualmente pertenece y se expone en el Museo del Prado (Yo
tengo diapositiva de él) Dice Bernardino de Pantorba (1) “... portrair
magnifique; peint avec la gallardise d´un pinceau de gene. C´est pour mon gout
le meilleur des douze portraits de la main de Jacopo Robusti... le meilleur peintre de cette
famille”.
